Today has been a long and fully packed day. In the beginning of the day our group split up into two. Some of us went to a park to work with street Life Ministries, giving food and clothes to the homeless. The others wen to The House on Beekman and took care of small babies and toddlers as their mothers learned about Jesus :)
At 2pm we the whole team went to The House on Beekman and helped out with after school program they have there :) At around 3pm we picked the kids up at school and played with them at the playground for about an hour, so they could get their energy out of their systems before coming to The House to do homework. After this, they played boardgames and had a little bible study. It was adorable to hear these small children pray!
Today was exhausting but very fun. It was a valuable learning experience. My heart melts for these children. Even the ones who are a bit rebellious and try to sneak away are so adorable once you get to know them.
Today I helped a little girl with her homework. I read her a book and helped her write a sentence what she read. It was special.. Hopefully we can hang out with these kids again, before we leave.
Lately we have had many great opportunities to work with several ministries!
On monday, we had a 30 minute performance at the Rivington House, an HIV/AIDS long-term care home. It was a great time and the crowd responded with great enthusiasm! This was our third time at the Rivington House. We have been working with Gifted Hands, and organisation that, like us, wants to show God's love through the arts. We have visited people individually in their rooms to play music for them or do crafts. There have also been wheelchair dance workshops for the people who are fit enough to get out of bed. It is such a blessing to see the joy these people get for us just being there, spending time with them.
Please pray for health for the team as some of us has a bit of a cold because of the changing spring weather. And for us to be able to do our best at the rest of the outreach. Reaching out and see God move through us. :)
